In five days I will be running my first marathon in Boston for a great charity that helps fight childhood obesity. The GoKids Foundation’s slogan is “Empowering Kids To Grow Up Healthy”.
GoKids is run by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. GoKids fulfills its mission by combining academic research with a living laboratory that engages undergraduate and post-graduate students of a variety of health and education disciplines including, exercise science, nursing, education, and psychology.
GoKids then conducts community outreach with the youth of the City of Boston. They reach out to them through their healthcare providers, teachers and community leaders.
By sharing what they learn with communities and our schools, GoKids Boston inspires health change throughout the state of Massachusetts and the nation.
2011 is the last year of eligibility for GoKids as a Boston Marathon charity. Please support this great cause with a donation at http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/thomas-barrett/thomasbarrett
